St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt will be closely monitored after being cleared of any serious damage from Saturday's sickening collision with Adelaide's Brodie Smith.
Riewoldt, 32, was released from Royal Adelaide Hospital on Sunday morning, sporting a small plaster under his left eye, and flew home to Melbourne after spending a night under observation.
Both players were subbed out of the game with concussions after the first-quarter head clash, which resulted in Riewoldt being stretchered from the field.
"He's in good spirits. He's had a restful night and he's up and about which is great," football manager Jamie Cox told Channel Seven on Sunday.
"It caused a fair bit of distress through the family - that's always your first concern.
"It's something that we probably won't judge until we know a bit more. I suspect he'll be down at the club tomorrow.
"We'll asses him daily and figure out how it stands with regards to next week."
The Saints host West Coast on Saturday at Etihad Stadium, with veteran onballer Leigh Montagna also in some doubt after he was a late withdrawal against the Crows with a hamstring issue.
St Kilda sorely missed the experienced pair in the 46-point defeat.
"I'd been sore all week, but I was still confident I could play right up until the warm-up on the ground," Montagna told Channel Seven's Game Day.
"I just knew then that I wouldn't do the team, or myself, justice by playing."
