Rio Tinto iron ore exports jump

Rio Tinto expects its 2018 iron ore production to come in at the upper end of its guidance after posting a 14 per cent jump in second-quarter production.

Rio Tinto has delivered a 14 per cent jump in second-quarter iron ore shipments, with the mining giant flagging production at the upper end of its guidance for 2018.

The group shipped 88.5 million tonnes in the second quarter to June 30 from the same period a year earlier.

Rio Tinto says shipments are expected to be at the upper end of its guidance range of 330 million to 340 million tonnes in 2018.
