Road upgrades to create 1200 Vic jobs

A roads upgrade in Melbourne's west will create 1200 jobs over five years, including 10 per cent set aside for young people just starting out.

More than 120 trainees, cadets and apprentices will get a career jump start from new jobs linked to a massive Victorian roads upgrade.

The $1.8 billion Western Roads Upgrade will fix eight major roads in five years and create 1200 jobs, of which 10 per cent will go to people starting out.

The Netflow consortium has been selected by the state government to conduct the upgrades in Point Cook, Truganina, Tarneit, Laverton North, Werribee and Hoppers Crossing. It will maintain the network for 20 years in a public private partnership, keeping on 200 workers.
