Defending A-League champions Brisbane Roar have opted not to appeal "remorseful" Matt McKay's two-match ban.
Days after their 2-1 season-opening loss to Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium, the Roar are now reeling from former Socceroos midfielder McKay missing their next two games for his foul-mouthed rant at referee Ben Williams.
McKay received a yellow card from Williams for an outburst and then a straight red for his reaction to his booking in the 72nd minute of Sunday's disappointing defeat at the hands of the Reds.
He was handed a mandatory one match ban plus an additional match for the incident.
The Roar had until 11am (AEST) on Tuesday to decide whether to appeal against the second game of the suspension.
But Roar managing director Sean Dobson said the club had reviewed the situation and accepted the match review panel's decision.
"Matt has shown incredible remorse about his actions on the weekend and he knows he has let the club, his teammates and our members and supporters down," Dobson said.
"We have accepted the match review panel's decision and consider the matter finalised."
McKay will miss Sunday's away trip to Perth Glory and next week's home fixture against Sydney FC.
