Trade Minister Andrew Robb is hopeful the US Senate's refusal to give President Barack Obama authority to fast-track Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations is just a minor glitch.
"It's hoped ... this is more a bump in the road rather than a derailment," Mr Robb told AAP on Wednesday.
Mr Obama wants to bypass Congress so he can finalise negotiations on the 12-nation free trade agreement without amendments and delays.
