Trade Minister Andrew Robb has dismissed as "dead wrong" an ABC fact check on labour provisions in Australia's trade deal with China.

The public broadcaster examined union claims the deal could allow cheap Chinese workers brought in for major projects, threatening Australian jobs, and declared it "checks out".

But Mr Robb said it wouldn't reduce any existing safeguards for Australian workers, and criticised the ABC's "dubious track record" of coming up with verdicts against coalition policy.
