Robredo through to semis of Shenzhen Open

Fourth-seeded Tommy Robredo of Spain outlasted eighth-seeded Andreas Seppi of Italy 6-4 6-7 (7-5) 6-3 to make the Shenzhen Open semi-finals on Friday.

Robredo hit 19 aces in the two-hour and 36-minute quarter-final at Shenzhen Longgang Sports Center.

He awaits either qualifier Viktor Troicki of Serbia or sixth-seeded Santiago Giraldo of Colombia.

Second-seeded Andy Murray faced Lukas Lacko of Slovakia late Friday. Murray was looking for a strong showing in the three-week Asian swing to improve his chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals in London next month.
