The Icelandic Museum of Rock 'n' Roll has opened its doors in Keflavik, allowing visitors to learn about the Nordic island's pop and rock music history.

The Icelandic Museum of Rock 'n' Roll has opened its doors in Keflavik, allowing visitors to learn about the Nordic island's pop and rock music history from the 1930s until the present.

Museum guests get handed a tablet computer with headphones on entering, so they can dive deeper into the story behind artists such as Bjork, The Sugarcubes, Sigur Ros, Of Monsters and Men, and Mugison.

Photographs and literature are also on show. You listen to the artists' music with the aid of the tablet's Rock 'n' Roll app.

Rock 'n' Roll became popular in Iceland in the 1950s with the arrival of the US armed forces, which had a base in Keflavik where the museum is now situated.
