Rockfall kills a worker at a WA mine site

A 59-year-old man has died at Central Norseman Gold's underground Harlequin mine in Western Australia during a rockfall incident.

A 59-year-old man has died at a West Australian gold mine during a rockfall.

It happened at Central Norseman Gold's underground Harlequin mine, about 200km south of Kalgoorlie, in the Goldfields region on Saturday morning.

The WA Department of Mines and Petroleum said inspectors were sent to the site on Sunday from Perth and Kalgoorlie.

Operations have been stopped while the investigation is underway.
