Rogers adds Somerset to his county list

Former Australia Test opener Chris Rogers has agreed to join Somerset for the 2016 season - the fifth English county side he will have played for.

Recently-retired Australian Test opener Chris Rogers has signed for his fifth English county side after agreeing terms on a one-year deal with Somerset for the 2016 season.

The 38-year-old opener ended a brief but impressive international career after the recent Ashes series finishing with an average of more than 42 from his 25 Test appearances having made his debut in 2013.

A specialist in English conditions, the West Australian-born left-hander has enjoyed spells with Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Middlesex, amassing 11,631 runs in 135 first-class matches.

The Victoria batsman said: "I'm really pleased to be joining a club of the stature of Somerset. I have always enjoyed playing cricket in England and as soon as I heard that Somerset were interested I wanted to make it happen."
