Fresh from scoring two centuries in Somerset's 325-run victory over Nottinghamshire, former Australia Test opener Chris Rogers has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
The Perth-born left-hander who enjoyed a stellar, albeit brief, Test career after winning his second Test cap during the 2013 Ashes series - five years after winning his first - has hung up his bat following a magnificent season with Somerset - his fifth county side.
Under Rogers' captaincy Somerset have done everything possible to claim the club's first-ever County title but they must await the outcome of events between Middlesex and Yorkshire at Lord's on Friday before knowing whether they have done enough to end a 141-year wait.
Rogers was unbeaten on 100, the 76th ton of his 19-year career, when declaring his side's second innings at lunch on 5-313.
That left Notts facing a mammoth 541 to win and, despite a battling 66 not out from Billy Root, brother of Joe, in only his second Championship appearance, they slid to 215 all out.
Somerset took 23 points from the match, while relegated Notts completed a miserable campaign by taking just three.
