Veteran batsman Chris Rogers could miss next week's second Test against the West Indies as he continues to battle concussion symptoms.
The 37-year-old missed the nine-wicket win over the Windies in Dominica after being hit in the helmet during a net session in the build-up to the opening Test.
Doctor Peter Brukner ruled out Rogers two days before the Test after he complained of dizziness and headaches following the blow.
On Saturday, Brukner said Rogers' chances of an immediate recall for the second Test in Jamaica were still in the air.
"Chris is still experiencing some symptoms of concussion and the plan is have him take it easy another few days," Brukner said.
"In regards to his availability for selection for the second Test, it's too early to say at this stage."
Whether Rogers will make an immediate return to the team if he proves his fitness is up for debate.
The opener is retiring at the end of the upcoming Ashes series and Australia will be loathe to change the lineup that crushed the Windies inside three days at Windsor Park.
In Rogers' absence Shaun Marsh opened the batting, while Adam Voges is unlikely to lose his place after making an unbeaten 130 on debut.
Captain Michael Clarke says for now it's about getting the all clear on Rogers from Brukner.
"He had some throw-downs in the nets," Clarke said.
"He did some running around the ground the last couple of days, so from all reports he's heading in the right direction but that'll be determined by the doc and Chris will back his judgment, as we will."
