Rogic is one of four players cut from Australia's final squad for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

"I have missed out on a childhood dream, something I have worked so hard for," Rogic wrote on Instagram.

"My body hasn't allowed me to take the opportunity I had been given.

"After giving my all, trying to play through the pain, it all became too much.

"I can honestly say I did everything I could to make my dream come true."

Rogic was overlooked for the Socceroos' squad amid an ongoing battle with groin injury.

The 21-year-old made a last-gasp attempt in a practice match to convince himself, and coach Ange Postecoglou, he was fit for the cup.

But the Celtic midfielder's injury was obvious during Australia's scratch-match against Brazilian second division side Parana Clube, and he pulled up lame.

Postecoglou overlooked Rogic, along with Luke Wilkshire, Josh Kennedy and Mark Birighitti, from his final squad.

"Today I experienced one of the toughest days of my life. I have missed out on a childhood dream, something I have worked so hard for. My body hasn't allowed me to take the opportunity I had been given. After giving my all, trying to play through the pain, it all became too much. I can honestly say I did everything I could to make my dream come true. The feelings I have now will drive me to become a better person and footballer and hopefully come back stronger than ever."

Postecoglou praised Rogic's fight for fitness.

"He worked awfully hard," Postecoglou told reporters in Brazil.

"It (the practice game) was a bit of a test to see if we could build him up. And I think he knew in the first minute that it just wasn't right.

"I said to him 'you walk away with your head held high'. He didn't give up."
