Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo will miss at least three NBA games after suffering an orbital fracture to his left eye and a fractured nose, the team announced on Monday.

Rondo was injured in the Mavericks' 108-93 triumph at Orlando on Saturday and was ruled out of Monday's home game against league-worst Minnesota and a two-game road swing to Golden State on Wednesday and Sacramento on Thursday.

Rondo will undergo additional evaluation and testing and his status will be updated later this week with a possible return no earlier than Saturday's home game against Northwest division leader Portland.

Just 98 seconds into the game at Orlando, Rondo tripped and fell to the floor after a defensive move only to be kneed in the face by teammate Richard Jefferson while trying to get back up.

Rondo, who helped Boston win the 2008 NBA title, was traded by the Celtics to Dallas last month. So far this season, he is averaging 8.7 points, 8.7 assists and 6.3 rebounds a game over 43 matches.

At 32-17, the Mavericks rank sixth in the Western Conference, four games ahead of Phoenix in the eighth and final playoff spot.
