Paul Roos continues to leave the door ajar amid constant speculation that he will return to the AFL next year and coach Melbourne.
The Sydney premiership coach is the bookies' favourite to take over the struggling Demons, but Roos has again said on Monday night that will not happen.
It was put to him that Roos must know by now if he wants to coach Melbourne and he replied: "I don't - I've said that."
But shortly after, Roos added he could not say for sure what 2014 would hold for him.
"You have to be careful in making closed statements," he said.
"I can't tell you what I'm going to be doing next year or the year after.
"All I can tell you is Peter (Melbourne chief executive Peter Jackson) and I had a good discussion ... at the moment, I said to him there's no interest in me coaching a football club.
"Silly as it sounds, Melbourne are a reasonably attractive proposition - if you wanted to coach."
Roos is a panellist for Fox Sport's On The Couch program and the speculation about Melbourne is now a weekly question for him.
"I can only tell you when you ask me - I don't mind, you can ask me every week for the next six weeks," Roos said.
"It doesn't worry me ... because I'm happy to answer the question."
Roos added he had only spoken to Jackson once about whether he might be interested in coaching the Demons.
"I haven't spoken to anyone at Melbourne since I spoke to Peter three or four weeks ago," he said.
"That's the last thing I've heard.
"All he said to me at the end was `if anything changes, let us know' and I gave him that undertaking.
"In the discussion with Peter three weeks ago, I said it wasn't something I was entertaining."
Neil Craig is the caretaker Melbourne coach for the rest of the season after last month's sacking of Mark Neeld.
Craig, Rodney Eade and Mark Williams are other prominent names being mentioned as candidates for the job.
