Roos' Dal Santo upbeat despite setback

Nick Dal Santo went in for surgery to repair a torn hamstring on Thursday, but the North Melbourne onballer remains upbeat about his season.

North Melbourne star Nick Dal Santo is confident he can still play a big part in the Kangaroos' season despite going in for surgery on Thursday.

Dal Santo, 31, injured his left hamstring during North's big win over Brisbane at Etihad Stadium on Sunday and was surprised to learn surgery was even an option.

But after consultation with specialists earlier this week, Dal Santo said he was comfortable with the conservative approach that will see him miss up to 12 weeks of football.
