Roosters grand final player ratings

Player ratings for the Sydney Roosters in the NRL grand final, won 21-6 over Melbourne.

JAMES TEDESCO: Threw the last pass for two tries and was a constant menace on attack with his heady mix of stepping and quick hands. The only player to surpass 200m run. 9

DANIEL TUPOU: Crossed for the first try and racked up some hefty metres. Could have taken a nap on defence, required for just two tackles. 8

LATRELL MITCHELL: Made life a misery for Will Chambers - and let him know about it - in a memorable return from suspension. Has surely booked a Kangaroos Test berth. 8.5

JOSEPH MANU: Some exceptional touches on attack, playing with confidence that seemed to rub off on the rest of his team. Boasts remarkable defensive bite and composure for one so young. 9

BLAKE FERGUSON: A powerhouse at the start of sets as usual. A high work rate but lost track of where his touchline was a couple of times. 7.5

LUKE KEARY: A Clive Churchill Medal sitter, virtually taking on the role of both halves as Cooper Cronk nursed his shoulder. Kicked exceptionally and popped up everywhere. Vision and execution marked his pass to Daniel Tupou for the opening try. Blotted his copybook with the intercept pass for the Storm's only try. 9.5

COOPER CRONK: Passenger or masterclass? Either way, the injured half was an inspirational figure for his teammates, playing 78min with a broken scapula. Talked non-stop and hid brilliantly in the defensive line. 7

JARED WAEREA-HARGREAVES: Got in the face of his opposites early and then again late. Most of his 23 tackles were of the crunching variety. 7.5

JAKE FRIEND: One of the veteran's best. The defensive glue and had his team rolling forward relentlessly. One memorable 40m surge led to Cameron Munster's first sin-binning. 9

SIOSIUA TAUKEIAHO: The big Tongan was the pick of the game's props, bringing an early fire the Storm pack couldn't match. 8.5

BOYD CORDNER: A colossus down the left, particularly in the first spell. Struck up a fine rapport with Keary and didn't put a foot wrong. 9

MITCHELL AUBUSSON: The Storm had to go through this man to get to Cronk and they very rarely did. Fiery defensive display marred by a couple of dangerous tackles that were penalised. 8

VICTOR RADLEY: Another lively display from a young forward who has enjoyed a breakthrough year. Bright future looms. 7.5

ISAAC LIU: The best bench performer from either team, having been demoted following Cronk's late call to start. His running and fast play-the-balls helped the Roosters keep their foot on their opponents' throat. 7.5

DYLAN NAPA: Relatively quiet in his return from suspension. No trademark big hits. 6.5

ZANE TETEVANO: Solid return in a very satisfying season as his career gets back on track. 7

RYAN MATTERSON: Made a real impact. Tackled tirelessly and made one memorable clean break. 7.5
