Roosters sign Brisbane youngster Nikorima

The Sydney Roosters have signed rising Brisbane playmaker Jayden Nikorima on a three-year deal beginning next season.

The Sydney Roosters have secured one of rugby league's hottest young talents in Brisbane's Jayden Nikorima on a three-year deal beginning next season.

The Tricolours were one of half a dozen NRL clubs, including the Broncos, vying for the 18-year-old's signature.

But the Australian Schoolboys star went with the Roosters and will immediately come into contention along with Jackson Hastings for the team's five-eighth spot to be vacated by James Maloney next year.

Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan said on Tuesday Nikorima, who is currently recovering from a shoulder injury, could play a number of positions for the side.

"Jayden is a wonderfully talented young man who can play in the halves, at hooker or fullback and we're pleased to have secured his services," he said.

"Jayden possesses a brilliant running game and speed to bring balance to our squad and we look forward to watching him develop on and off the footy field in the coming years."

Older brother Kodi has played 15 games for the Broncos after debuting in round 2.
