Rose Tattoo drummer fronts Sydney court

Rose Tattoo drummer Paul DeMarco will remain behind bars for at least another week over illegal gun sales charges.

Rose Tattoo drummer Paul DeMarco will spend at least another week behind bars after a brief court appearance to face illegal gun sales charges.

DeMarco, 55, was arrested along with former bikie boss Sam Ibrahim and Ibrahim's younger sister Jazz Dior after dawn raids by police on Tuesday.

Police allege the trio are "significant players" in an illegal gun sales syndicate, selling military-grade and high-powered weapons across western Sydney and the Illawarra region.

DeMarco, from Windsor in Sydney's northwest, was charged with 27 offences, including supplying prohibited weapons and ammunition.

He appeared via audio-visual link at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.

His lawyer Michael Croke told the court he needed more time to speak with his client and did not make a bail application.

Bail was formally refused by the magistrate and the case was adjourned until April 9, with DeMarco retained in custody.

Asked outside the court if DeMarco was OK, Mr Croke replied: "Yeah, he's good."

Mr Croke says the drummer is shocked over his arrest.

DeMarco performed with the Angry Anderson-led Rose Tattoo between 1992 and 1993 before rejoining in 1998, recording tracks including Rock and Roll Outlaw.

Anderson is shocked over his bandmate's arrest.

"It has come out of nowhere," he told News Corp Australia.

"We did a few shows last year but had nothing planned for this year. I haven't seen him for a few months. I am just worried for his wife."

Ibrahim, from Greystanes, the older brother of Kings Cross nightclub owner John Ibrahim, is charged with five offences including supplying firearms to unauthorised persons and possession of a prescribed, restricted substance.

The 45-year-old is also due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on April 9.

Dior, who recently changed her name by deed poll from Maha Sayour, is charged with conspiracy to supply a firearm to an unauthorised person.

The 43-year-old from Wentworthville, appeared at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday.

The arrests came after a lengthy police operation in which an undercover detective infiltrated the alleged gun sales syndicate and purchased 13 weapons in October.

The 18 weapons seized during Tuesday's operations were an M1 military-grade assault rifle, a standard rifle, three pistols, two shotguns and 11 handguns.

Bullets, steroids and illicit drugs were also seized.
