The royal family will mark Christmas Day by attending a traditional church service with speculation Prince George will be among the congregation.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will lead their family to church near King's Lynn in Norfolk and among those attending are expected to be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

There is speculation that Prince George may be taken to the service for the first time.

Prince Harry is also likely to be among the congregation after he spent yesterday lunchtime playing in a friendly football match between Sandringham estate workers and the nearby village of Castle Rising.

The royals traditionally gather at the Queen's private Sandringham estate in Norfolk over the Christmas period to enjoy the festivities.

Unlike most people in the UK, they follow the German tradition of opening their presents on Christmas Eve.

But after the day's service the Queen and her family will sit down to a Norfolk turkey with all the trimmings.
