Royals to give Anzac readings in Gallipoli

It's been confirmed that Prince Charles and Prince Harry will participate in three key Anzac Day services on the Gallipoli peninsula.

Prince Charles will give a reading at the centenary Anzac dawn service in Gallipoli while his son, Prince Harry, will speak at the Australian service at Lone Pine later in the day.

Clarence House on Wednesday released details of the princes' visit to Turkey from April 23 to April 25.

Prince Harry will take time out from his month-long military exchange to Australia to attend the centenary commemorations.

Prince Charles and Prince Harry will visit Istanbul on April 23 before attending the international and Commonwealth services at Gallipoli on April 24.

Both will be present at the joint Australia and New Zealand dawn service on Anzac Day itself at North Beach on the peninsula.

"The Prince of Wales will give a reading and lay a wreath," Clarence House said in a brief statement.

"Prince Harry will attend."

Father and son will subsequently meet Australian war widows at a nearby hotel for breakfast.

They'll also attend the Australian-led memorial service at Lone Pine where they'll mingle with the public before Charles lays a wreath and Harry gives a reading.

Both British royals will also attend the New Zealand commemorative service at Chunuk Bair in the afternoon.

Prince William, whose wife Kate is expecting the couple's second child in mid to late April, will remain in London.

William will join his grandparents the Queen and Prince Philip at a wreath-laying ceremony at the cenotaph in the English capital on Anzac Day.

They'll also be present at a service of commemoration and thanksgiving on April 25 at Westminster Abbey.

The Duke of Edinburgh will separately attend a wreath-laying service at St Paul's Cathedral.
