Labor MPs have been quick to dismiss the Rudd-Gillard saga as ancient history after more revelations about the internal turmoil of their governments.

The second episode of The Killing Season on ABC TV claimed then Labor senator and right-wing powerbroker Mark Arbib warned Julia Gillard in June 2010 that Bill Shorten couldn't be trusted.

When asked for a reaction by reporters in Canberra on Wednesday, Labor frontbencher Mark Dreyfus said it was a fascinating piece of Australian history but not current affairs, while backbencher Tim Watts said he completely trusted Mr Shorten who is now opposition leader.
