Russia criticises Ukrainian opposition

Ukraine's opposition has failed to fulfill its side of a peace deal, Russia's foreign minister says.

Russia's foreign minister says Ukraine's opposition has failed to fulfil its side of a peace deal intended to end the country's political crisis.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Saturday called his German, French and Polish counterparts, who helped broker Friday's agreement between Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and the opposition.

The Russian foreign ministry said Lavrov urged his counterparts to use their influence with the Ukrainian opposition to stop what he described as rampages by its supporters.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said on Saturday the dramatic events in Kiev did not amount to a coup.

"No coup in Kiev. (Government) buildings got abandoned," Sikorski tweeted, adding that Yanukovych had 24 hours to sign into law constitutional reforms agreed under a peace deal on Friday.
