Russian Greenpeace prosecutions 'problematic'

An expert in the Law of the Sea says charges of piracy against Greenpeace activists who scaled a Russian oil platform could be politically-motivated.

 

An Australian man is among 30 activists facing up to 15 years in jail for his involvement in the protest against drilling in the Arctic last month.

 

Professor Rosemary Rayfuse is an expert in the Law of the Sea at the University of New South Wales.

 

Ms Rayfuse told Hannah Sinclair a charge of piracy is legally problematic in this case.
