SA 75-year-old takes on robber

Two masked men have tried to burgle an Adelaide home, but left empty handed after a 75-year-old man tried to fend one of them off.

An elderly man has bravely tried to fend off burglars who knocked down and injured his wife during a violent Adelaide home invasion.

Two masked men broke into the Flinders Park home late on Thursday and knocked over the 73-year-old woman, who suffered a fractured hip and a broken arm.

The woman's 75-year-old husband went to her aid and grappled with one the would-be thieves before he was struck on the head.

The couple still managed to trigger an alarm, prompting the offenders to flee empty-handed.
