SA Liberals want a waste industry inquiry

The South Australian opposition is pushing for a waste industry inquiry so residents and businesses can better understand the causes of landfill fires.

A recent landfill fire has sparked calls from the South Australian opposition for a parliamentary inquiry into the state's waste industry.

Opposition environment spokeswoman Michelle Lensink says residents and businesses close to landfill sites deserve to understand the cause of fires so they can reduce their frequency.

The inquiry would consider waste management methods and the adequacy of the Environment Protection Act to manage the waste sector.
