SA man admits to fatal house crash

A driver charged over a crash into a South Australian house, which left a woman dead inside, has changed his plea to guilty.

A driver who crashed into a South Australian house has admitted to causing the death of a woman inside.

Nathan Lee McArdle, 28, was accused of being drunk and speeding when he lost control of his car at Murray Bridge, east of Adelaide, in June last year.

In the District Court on Tuesday, he changed his plea to guilty to charges of dangerous driving causing death and serious harm.

Elishia Iannella, 27, died and her boyfriend was seriously injured when the car crashed into their house.

McArdle was due to face a trial in December, after the prosecution refused to accept his guilty plea to a lesser charge of aggravated driving without due care.

The matter will be mentioned again on Friday when a date is expected to be set for his sentence hearing.
