Police have recaptured two South Australian prison escapees who made a New Year's Eve jail break at Port Augusta, but one more is still at large.

The prisoners escaped from a low security section of the prison after 10pm on Wednesday night.

Howard Clyde Weetra, 24, is still on the run and is wearing green trousers and a maroon top.

But police recaptured Craig Cullinan, 23, and Troy Churchill, 32, on Thursday morning.

Police have urged members of the public not to approach the remaining escapee but to phone triple zero immediately.
