SA premier kicks off election campaign

South Australian premier Jay Weatherill says voters will have a clear choice when they cast their vote next month.

Labor's South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill has formally dissolved parliament ahead of the state's election on March 15.

Mr Weatherill visited the Governor, Admiral Kevin Scarce, on Saturday morning for the issuing of the writs for the election.

The announcement kicks off a four-week campaign, with Mr Weatherill saying the people of South Australia will have a clear choice when they go to vote.

"When South Australians cast their vote on election day, they have a choice between building and cutting," he said.

"They can choose a government that will take the lead and continue building or one that will get out of the way, take the hands off the wheel and make cuts."

"We will continue to transform and modernise the economy.

"We will stand up to the Abbott government.

"Only a Labor government will keep building South Australia."
