SA to get cashless welfare card first

Ceduna, in South Australia, will be the first to sign up to a trial of the controversial cashless welfare card.

The South Australian community of Ceduna will be the first to trial a controversial cashless welfare quarantining card.

An agreement will be signed on Wednesday to authorise the card's launch in February 2016, parliamentary secretary Alan Tudge said.

It will mean some residents at risk of drug and alcohol abuse will have 80 per cent of all welfare payments made cashless.
