SA vs Tas one-dayer called off due to rain

Heavy rain in Sydney has forced the abandonment of the one-day cricket match between South Australia and Tasmania.

The domestic one-day cricket match between South Australia and Tasmania at Bankstown Oval has been abandoned with only four overs bowled.

Wild storms and heavy overnight rain left the outfield soaked in patches, with persistent showers forcing umpires to call off the match.

Tasmania had moved to 1-22 off four overs, when the players were forced off the field.

Tim Paine had reached 14, with Ed Cowan also unbeaten on 7. Tasmania lost Ben Dunk to just the second ball of the innings, with Gary Putland trapping the opener lbw without scoring.

The abandonment all but ends Tasmania's slim hopes of reaching the finals, while bottom-placed South Australia were already out of contention for a top-three finish.

The teams collected two points each for the abandonment.
