South Australia has its first reported case of hepatitis A linked to the recent recall of frozen berry products.

The 54-year-old woman, from country SA, is in a stable condition in the Royal Adelaide Hospital, SA Health's chief medical officer said on Friday.

She saw her doctor on February 15 when she began displaying symptoms and a positive blood test for hepatitis A was returned on February 24, Professor Paddy Phillips said.

The woman ate Nanna's frozen mixed berries over the Christmas and New Year period.

"There is no risk of infection to the wider community, but as a precaution, we've arranged for four of the patient's close contacts to receive a preventative vaccination," Prof Phillips said.

This is 21st confirmed case of hepatitis A associated with this outbreak, after three in Victoria, eight in Queensland, seven in NSW, one in Western Australia and one in ACT, the federal government says.

It's also the fourth case of hepatitis A in South Australia this year, but the only one associated with frozen berries.

Prof Phillips warned anyone who has eaten the products to be aware of the symptoms of hepatitis A and contact their doctor if any develop.

They include abdominal pain, nausea, fever and chills, and yellow skin or eyes.

"If you haven't already, check your freezer to make sure you don't have any of the recalled berry products and if you do, either take them back to the store for a refund or throw them away."
