SAfrican out of Aust T20s, illegal action

The ICC has found South Africa left-arm spinner Aaron Hangis' action to be illegal and he will miss the first two T20 Internationals against Australia.

South Africa left-arm spinner Aaron Phangiso will miss the first two Twenty20 Internationals against Australia this week due to his action being found to be illegal by the ICC's testing laboratory.

Phangiso will get the chance to win back his place in the squad for the final game of the series next Wednesday and South Africa's World Twenty20 campaign in India, when he is re-tested on Monday by the ICC's panel of human movement specialists.

The first assessment revealed all variations of his deliveries exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under ICC regulations after he was reported last week in a domestic 50-over semi-final.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed he would not be considered for the first two T20 matches against Australia on Friday and Sunday.

The 32-year-old will remain with the squad to work with spin bowling coach Claude Henderson, who will be joined by CSA's high performance manager Vinnie Barnes, to try to remedy his action.

Phangiso was disciplined by CSA late last year after allegedly offending crew and passengers on a flight from India while in an intoxicated state.

He was also forced to apologise after being caught by television cameras imitating the snorting of cocaine while in the team's dugout last month during the second T20 international against England at The Wanderers.

Phangiso has played 16 one-day internationals and nine T20s for South Africa.
