St Kilda's American experiment will continue, with Chicago-born ruckman Jason Holmes agreeing to a new one-year AFL deal.
Holmes, an international selection at the 2014 rookie draft, has shown enough in five AFL appearances in the past two years to be elevated to the senior list in 2017.
"We're thrilled to have Jason commit to the club for another year as we think he's made great strides in his development over his three seasons at the Saints," chief operating officer Ameet Bains said.
"Jason is a rapid learner and strong competitor, and is a valuable part of our talented ruck team."
Holmes, a 27-year-old former basketballer, was the first born-and-raised American to make an AFL debut in round 21 of the 2015 season.
The United States is viewed as a developing source for potential AFL recruits, given the success of Holmes and Mason Cox, who played 11 games this year in a breakout season for Collingwood.
