Saints sign Magpies midfielder Freeman

Midfielder Nathan Freeman will be looking to put persistent hamstring trouble behind him after joining St Kilda from Collingwood.

St Kilda have secured promising young midfielder Nathan Freeman from Collingwood on a three-year deal.

The Saints offered up their second round pick in the 2016 national draft and selection No.63 in this year's draft in exchange for the 20-year-old and pick No.68.

In two seasons ruined by hamstring injuries, Freeman didn't play a senior game for the Magpies.

St Kilda chief operating officer Ameet Bains said Freeman's signature was a coup for the Saints, who were confident his injury concerns were behind him.

"Nathan is a quality young player with excellent character who we have followed very closely ever since he was coming through the junior system and we are delighted to have him join us," Bains said.

Freeman grew up supporting the Saints and played for Vic Metro alongside star midfielder Jack Billings at the 2013 national championships.
