Salary cap woes won't affect Glory: Lowe

Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe appears to have adopted and 'us and them' approach saying 'we'll keep letting the boys over east moan like hell'.

Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe insists the salary cap drama surrounding the A-League club won't distract his players, saying people over east can keep moaning as much as they like.

Football Federation Australia have launched an investigation into the ladder-leading Glory after a Fairfax Media report accused them of rorting the salary cap.

Perth allegedly failed to declare player-agent fees, player accommodation allowances and motor vehicle costs between 2011-14.

Lowe is confident the investigation won't derail the club's dream start to the season, joking that half of his players "can't read, so we're home free".

But Lowe was more serious when pressed about the nature of the allegations.

"It must be a slow week over there in the east. You know, they've got nothing to write about," Lowe said in reference to the media.

"Half of their teams are down in the league, and they're not in the FFA Cup final.

"At the end of the day, we focus on our football, and we'll keep letting the boys over east moan like hell."

Glory lost Tuesday's FFA Cup final 1-0 to Adelaide, but Lowe said his players had already bounced back from that disappointment ahead of Saturday night's clash with Central Coast at nib Stadium.

Perth will enter the match without suspended defender Josh Risdon and star midfielder Mitch Nichols, who will miss up to eight weeks after tearing his left hamstring in his late bid to be fit for the FFA Cup final.

With Youssouf Hersi ruled out for the rest of the season with his own hamstring issue, Lowe confirmed the club would look to sign another midfielder.

The Mariners sit in eighth spot with just one win to their name, and will be without midfielder Nick Montgomery (calf) for their trek west.

However, striker Matt Simon will enter the match full of confidence after scoring in last week's 1-1 draw with Wellington.

Lowe said Simon was a dangerous player who needed to be stopped.

"I think Michael Thwaite mentioned something the other day that they are both sharpening their elbows for each other," Lowe joked.
