With his biggest weapon firing again, Sam Groth has continued his encouraging return to form by winning the Las Vegas Tennis Open.

Groth claimed his first trophy in 16 months, beating Colombian Santiago Giraldo 6-7 (7-4) 6-4 7-5 in the final of the ATP Challenger tournament.

The 29-year-old didn't drop his serve in 62 service games, and nailed 95 aces.

After a lean first half of the year, Groth has now won seven of his past eight matches and improved his ranking to return to the world's top 200.

Groth also combined with Brian Baker to win the Las Vegas doubles title.

He will play three more Challenger tournaments in the US -- Charlottesville, Virginia; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Champaign, Illinois, before returning home for the Australian summer.
