Sam Groth's mother latest Open casualty

The mother of Australian player Sam Groth fell down stairs during his third round doubles match with Lleyton Hewitt.

The mother of Australian player Sam Groth was the latest casualty at Melbourne Park, falling down stairs during his doubles match.

Groth and Lleyton Hewitt's match was delayed for almost 20 minutes in the second set after she fell.

In the fourth incident involving a spectator during the Open, paramedics were called to the stands when she went down after the fifth game at Margaret Court Arena.

It came less than 24 hours after Ana Ivanovic's coach Nigel Sears, also the father-in-law of Andy Murray, collapsed during Ivanovic's third-round match against Madison Keys.

Groth looked concerned throughout the delay, and had a towel covering the bottom half of his face for the most part.

His mother was able to walk from the courts after being treated.

The Australian pairing lost their third round match to ninth seeds Vasek Pospisil (Canada) and Jack Sock (USA) 6-4 6-2 in Hewitt's final Open appearance.
