Sami shows off best of inconsistent Titans

Phillip Sami's moment of brilliance against the Warriors was a sign of what Gold Coast can produce but Gold Coast can't be satisfied with one impressive half of football, coach Garth Brennan says.

Sami scored two of the Titans' five second-half tries as they steamrolled a New Zealand side trying to lock down eighth spot on the NRL ladder.

His first produced one of the highlights of the year, latching on to a Michael Gordon pass to break right then left and leave Warriors fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck clutching at air.

Brenko Lee also provided some razzle-dazzle with a neat step to set up a try and an intercept to score one of his own for a Titans side out of the finals hunt.

And teenager AJ Brimson brushed off a heavy concussion last weekend to have his most involved game in Titans colours, dummying on the way to a try of his own.

"I think he tripped over, think he scared himself, Sami," Brennan said of the winger's magical footwork.

"That was class. Roger's a world-class fullback and he probably surprised himself how well he did it and he's the kid that's getting better each week."

It isn't the first time the Titans have impressed, though, with Brennan rating the win alongside their defeat of Brisbane earlier this year.

He said the challenge now for the 12th-ranked team was to back it up.

"Don't be satisfied with today's performance," Brennan said.

"There's a massive upside. We've had some heartbreaking times and performances not where they need to be (this season).

"It's important we don't get too excited about it."
