The recent SBS Television series Struggle Street highlighted social disadvantage in the western Sydney suburb of Mount Druitt.

The problematic behaviour it showed of some of the young people in the area was nothing new to a group of a group of elders and chiefs from the local Samoan community, who do voluntary work with local police.

Nuu Tua Afele is one of the community leaders who help police patrol Mount Druitt, in a bid to limit the number of young people of Samoan background who get themselves into trouble.

He's speaking to Ioane Lafoai from SBS Radio's Samoan program.
