Samoan trio fined over Brisbane brawl

Samoan rugby league trio Reni Maitua, Tautau Moga and Sauaso Sue have each been fined $10,000 over their involvement in a Brisbane brawl.

Samoan players Reni Maitua, Tautau Moga and Sauaso Sue have each been fined $10,000 over their involvement in a brawl in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley last weekend.

The trio were stood down from Samoa's opening Four Nations clash against England in Brisbane on Tuesday, and were hit with the fines on Thursday.

General manager of the NRL's integrity unit Nick Weeks said the sanctions were another sign the game's governing body would not tolerate player misbehaviour.

"In determining the level of fines, the NRL had taken into account the salaries of the players involved," Weeks said in an NRL statement.

"In other words, these are very substantial penalties for the players involved.

"And we will continue to take a tough stance against players who damage the reputation of our game through these kinds of incidents."

Moga was one of eight men who were arrested following a fracas outside the Hot Gossip nightclub early on Sunday morning, after an official Samoan team function.

Maitua and Sue were also present when the fight erupted.
