Samsung to resume sale of Note 7 in Oct

Samsung will resume the sale of its Galaxy Note 7 phone in Europe on October 28, after withdrawing the device due to battery-related issues.

Samsung says it will resume the sale of its Galaxy Note 7 phone in Europe on October 28, after the South Korean company had to withdraw the device from markets earlier this month due to battery-related issues.

After Samsung put Note 7 on sale last August 19, the South Korean company had to suspend the sale on September 2 due to hazards related to defective batteries that may lead to the devices exploding.

The company said in a statement on Wednesday that it plans to deliver the new version of the devices to customers by early next month.

Samsung acknowledged early in September that there were 35 cases in which the phones were burned during charging.

According to the company, all European customers who bought the Note 7 received messages to join the replacement program.

Samsung pointed out that 97 per cent of Europeans who returned the defective Note 7 preferred to replace them with the same model.

The new Note 7 phones have batteries in green to differentiate from the defective devices.
