Sandow named in Warrington GF squad

Warrington coach Tony Smith has named Australian scrum-half Chris Sandow in his 19-man squad for Saturday's Super League Grand Final against Wigan.

The former Parramatta half-back has not played since sustaining a knee injury in the Wolves' 12-10 Challenge Cup final defeat at Wembley six weeks ago but Smith said earlier in the week he would be tempted to recall him if he was fit.

Dec Patton has deputised during Sandow's absence and would be the man to make way if Sandow gets the nod when Smith announces his line-up on Saturday.

Smith has also called up experienced prop forward Ryan Bailey, a Grand Final winner with Leeds who has missed the last two matches with a calf injury, and back-up hooker Brad Dwyer.

As expected, Wigan recall prop Ben Flower following the completion of a two-match suspension for what will be the 200th appearance of his career but there is no place for skipper Sean O'Loughlin, who is still struggling with a torn calf which is likely to rule him out of England's Four Nations Series campaign.

Warrington (probable): S Ratchford; T Lineham, R Evans, R Atkins, M Russell; K Gidley, C Sandow or D Patton; C Hill (capt), D Clark, A Sims, J Hughes, S Wilde, J Westerman. Subs (from): G King, R King, B Dwyer, R Bailey, J Philbin.

Wigan (probable): D Sarginson; J Charnley, A Gelling, O Gildart, L Tierney; G Williams, M Smith (capt); F-P Nuuausala, S Powell, B Flower, J Bateman, L Farrell, W Isa. Subs (from): D Crosby, J Shorrocks, T Tautai, R Sutton, J Bretherton, J Wells.
