Sandra Bullock in tears over Jay Leno

Oscar-winning actress chocked back tears as she made an emotional tribute to Tonight Show host Jay Leno.

Actress Sandra Bullock has paid an emotional tribute to TV host Jay Leno on his last Tonight Show.

Bullock agreed to be one of the chat show king's final guests and she made sure Leno left the show with fond memories of her.

At the end of her interview, Bullock said, "You've always been so kind. That's saying a lot in this business because we like to be mean ... Even when the film was horrible and you knew it, you never let me see it in your eyes.

"When I made crazy life decisions, you never questioned (them). You were always so welcoming ... and I just felt special even when I felt very insecure. And everyone, I think, in this room and in this country, has felt that every day that you've been in their homes. I'm so grateful that I got to be a part of this."

Hollywood veteran Mickey Rooney, director Kevin Smith and comedian Arsenio Hall also stopped by to bid farewell to Leno.

Leno taped his final Tonight Show on Thursday after 22 years in the hosting chair. He hands over the reigns of the longrunning late-night US show to Jimmy Fallon.
