Sarah Jane Smith in mix on LPGA Tour

Canada's Brooke Henderson shot an even par 73 to lead the LPGA Tour's windswept season opener in The Bahamas as second round play was halted by poor light.

Australia's Sarah Jane Smith retained a leaderboard spot when the second round was suspended at the LPGA Tour's wind-swept season opener in The Bahamas.

In second place after the opening round, Smith dropped two shots on the front nine to be tied eighth at three-under when play was halted due to darkness.

Canada's Brooke Henderson set the pace, shooting an even-par 73 second round to get to five under at the Ocean Club Golf Course in the event cut to 54 holes after wind wiped out play most of Friday.

She was one shot clear of China's Shanshan Feng who had dropped one shot after nine holes.

Make her debut as an LPGA Tour member, Australian youngster Hannah Green was well placed to make the cut, in a tie for 24th at one over with seven holes to play in her second round.

She was tied with veteran countrywoman Katherine Kirk who had dropped four shots after nine holes.

The only other Australian in the field, Su Oh, was tied 43rd at three over after 10 holes.
