Savings exist in ABC 24: Liberal MP

A Liberal MP believes it's strange for ABC to offer a 24 hour news service when similar programming exists on pay TV.

Liberal MP Steven Ciobo believes the ABC could find savings in its 24-hour news channel because a similar service exists on pay TV.

Asked if he thought the ABC had become too large, Mr Ciobo said he found it "strange" ABC ran an all-day news service when similar programming exists on subscription television's Sky News.

"There's certainly scope for savings there," he told Channel Ten's Bolt Report.

Viewers can only access Sky News if they pay for Foxtel, while ABC 24 is free to air.
