Over 400 entries were received for the Kennedy Awards for Excellence in NSW Journalism.
The Feed's Joel Tozer took the prize for best young journalist, against The Sydney Morning Herald's Sarah Whyte and The Daily Telegraph's Taylor Auerbach.
Last year's winner of the Kennedy Award for journalist of the year, Joanne McCarthy at the Newcastle Herald, presented the award.
Three video reports for The Feed garnered Joel the prize - including a story on the Australian operation of the secretive Korean church, Providence.
Joel Tozer said winning the award - named in honour of celebrated Sydney crime reporter Les Kennedy - is meaningful on a number of levels.
"It's a huge honour to win this award. I had the privilege of meeting Les Kennedy while I was interning at the SMH and it means a lot to win an award in his name," he said.
"Each of these stories were deeply personal and it took a lot of courage for each of these people to go on camera.
"I work with a really talented bunch of people at The Feed and I'm lucky to get the time to make these stories."

Adele Ferguson won 4 awards, including Journalist of the Year.
Network TEN, Nine, and Prime also won an award each.
Channel Seven won two awards in the categories News Camera coverage and Television Reporting.
The Kennedy Awards were established in 2012 in memory of Sydney police and crime reporter, Les Kennedy's contribution to journalism.
Colleagues of Les Kennedy said they were motivated to set up the awards to remember the ongoing legacy of the dedicated reporters who have informed millions of Australians over the years.
"Other states and territories New South Wales did not properly recognise journalists doing battle in one of the world’s most competitive news markets," said organisers.
