Changes to AFL interchange rules will make all-conquering North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein an even scarier prospect for opposition ruckmen, according to Brad Scott.
Goldstein was a key contributor in the Kangaroos' march to a second preliminary final in succession last year, with his 1058 hitouts at an average of 44 per game breaking the record set by Gary Dempsey in 1982.
The 27-year-old earned All Australian honours and his first club best-and-fairest award at the end of his stellar season.
And Scott believes the abolition of the substitute and the reduction of interchange rotations from 120 to 90 will only serve to help his super-fit lead ruckman.
"Interchange is going to (be) reduced so that will make it harder for opposition ruckmen to counter what Goldy is able to do," Scott said on Friday.
"He's able to play really high minutes and he plays his best football that way. Opposition teams may not be able to rotate on him like they've done in the past.
"He's excited and we're really confident that his best footy is ahead of him.
"There are still a lot of parts of his game that he can improve, so he's going to be a scary prospect if he does that."
With support from tall forwards Drew Petrie and Ben Brown, Scott believes the Roos have all bases covered with their ruck set-up.
