Scary Milford leaves Bennett in awe

Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett says it's scary to think about how good an NRL player Anthony Milford could become.

After another glittering display for rampant NRL leaders Brisbane, Anthony Milford has got coach Wayne Bennett scared over what he could one day become.

Milford was again central to Brisbane's attack as the Broncos smashed local rivals Gold Coast 34-0 on Friday night, setting up two of the home team's six tries.

The young five-eighth also had a hand in three line breaks, made an offload and had three tackle busts of his own.

After copping criticism early in the season from the media, with many suggesting he needed to return to the fullback position he played at during his time with Canberra, Bennett says it is clear more patience was deserved.

"Milford's just turned 21. It's scary what you think he could be at 25 or 26 when he's a hardened pro," the seven-time premiership-winning coach said.

"He holds the ball late and he just has silky little skills.

"That's something you can't coach, that's kinda god-given."
