A WA high school will be closed as the area near Shannon National Park remains under threat from a bushfire that has broken containment lines.
An emergency warning in is place for the blaze that crossed to the west of Preston Road in the state's south.
Northcliffe District High School has told pupils to stay away on Monday as the school will be shut until further notice.
Nearby residents have been told they must act immediately to survive.
Houses in the area bounded by Boorara Road, Mottram Road, Muirillup Road, Bashford Road, Middleton Road and Bannister Road are expected to be threatened by fire.
Fire crews have been establishing containment lines for the blaze, which was sparked by lightning strike.
Drivers have been urged to avoid the area surrounding the park due to thick smoke.
Further north a bushfire that destroyed at least one house south of Perth has been downgraded, but residents have not been allowed to return to their homes.
A spokesperson for the department of Fire and Emergency Services said there are still small fires burning in the Waroona area.
Winds forecast to challenge containment lines around the Waroona fire did not eventuate, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said.
As a result, the blaze was downgraded to a watch and act level but authorities warned there was still a possible threat to lives and homes with the blaze burning around the town.
A watch and act warning affects Waroona and the area bounded by Peel Road, South Western Highway, James Road, Paganini Road and Lake Moyanup.
